The Top 150 Hits of… 1995
Dang, researching these mid-late 90’s lists is murder! Check
out a blog I did back in 2011 called “The Hot 100 in the 90’s” to find out why.
Between the inclusion of the radio-only tracks that didn’t
qualify for the Hot 100 (20-30 of them) and the unusual number of songs that
bridged two years, the #100 song on Billboard’s year-end list doesn’t come in here
until #127!
I think I may have spoken too soon in my 1994 entry when I
said that Modern Rock hit a commercial peak then. Looks like ‘95’s got it beat
in that regard with Green Day, Pearl Jam and Live in the top 50.
At the bottom of this entry I’m including the top 10 Country
songs for the year for the first time, since I have the resources to do so. If
I had the same resources for the R&B chart, I’d add those too. Sadly, I don’t.
Eventually I’ll go back and add a Country top 10 to the years I’ve already
posted before 1999, which is when the Hot 100 became an all-inclusive,
all-format chart and therefore wouldn’t need said addition.
