The Top 150 Hits of… 2015

“Uptown Funk” might be the biggest hit of all time.

To celebrate the 50^th anniversary of the Hot 100 in 2008, Billboard published a list of the all-time biggest hits from Aug. 1958 to Aug. 2008. Their #1 was “The Twist” by Chubby Checker, which made two entirely separate trips to #1 in 1960 (#6 for the year according to one source) and 1962 (#1 for that year according to the same source). Number 2 of all time was “Smooth” by Santana and Rob Thomas from 1999 to 2000. In my chart research of all the years between 2000 and 2015, “Uptown Funk” is the only song to have surpassed the point total of “Smooth” using my scale. Billboard’s all-time list was updated five years later to include songs up to 2013. I hope that means we can expect another update in 2018, because I really want to know where this one lands!
